Einstein was a heavily self-reliant student in college, and often missed many classes. His professors were constantly annoyed by him, and one of his professors, Heinrich Weber, wrote him a terrible recommendation which guaranteed that Albert Einstein would be rejected from all of his academic positions that he applied for. Albert had to succumb to lowly jobs just to sustain himself. He caught a lucky break when a family friend recommended him as a patent clerk. While working as a patent clerk, he married a former classmate married Maric on Jan. 6, 1903. They had two sons, Hans and Eduard Albert.
Einstein quickly mastered being a patent clerk, and when the free time that he aquired, he begun to explore and challenge ideas that he had studied during his time at the Swiss Federal Polytechnic School. While reviewing James Maxwell's electromagnetic theories, (which discused the nature of light) Albert Einstein found a flaw within Maxwell's theories. Maxwell, along with every other scientist, did not know that the speed of light was constant. This brand new idea challenged the entire scientific communitiy and is the basis of Einstein's legacy.
